Brochure Type Websites

Corfe Castle Holidays provide self catering holiday cottages in Corfe Castle , Dorset . This website was initially based on their brochure.

It's a database driven website so the cottage summary page is an extraction of the full cottage listing — no duplicate content.

The cottage images use a JQuery library for the slide show transition effect. No need to render a Flash animation. We just used CSS placeholders, so images are available if Javascript is disabled.

When clicking &lquo;prices&rquo; from a cottage listing, the price row is automatically highlighted to assist the user.

Content Management Websites (CMS)

Christchurch Gundog Club wanted a website to keep existing members up to date with news, events and special offers. They also wanted the website to attract new members.

We provided a webstandards website with a content management facility. We used PayPal to enable visitors to join online — there and then. We configured PayPal to renew membership automatically which reduces administration for Christchurch Gundog Club.

Pegasus Marine offer solutions and coordination for construction and repair of marine craft and marine-based structures.

We were given a Photoshop (PSD) design and converted this into XHTML Strict 1.1 (.PSD to XHTML). We provided our own bespoke website content management system.

For 4 years we have provided Taylor Made Designs with their main website, in addition to their Sage integrated B2B backend online ordering facility.

Their site has undergone a recent upgrade. It now has more meaningful URLs for search engines. It has well formed XHTML & CSS instead of a semantically incorrect, but robust, table based design. This reduces overheads and ultimately makes the site load faster.

The improved CMS allows the image filenames and directory structure to be individually specified at each level, along with image captions and ALT text. This gives them more meaning for search engines and screen readers.

Technical note: Instead of using a resource intensive recursive method (The Adjacency List Model) for the image directory tree, we tried The Nested Set Model. As no recursion is used this makes the script more efficient and the site load faster!

B2B Online Ordering

Taylor Made Designs supply eBay Inc with all their clothing and merchandise requirements. Ringwood Internet provides the B2B online quotation facility to enable eBay staff to obtain quotations for promotional merchandise.

We also provide the online ordering facility for leisure centres to order their staff uniform at Taylor Made Designs. We recently integrated this with Sage. This has significantly reduced admin.
